    Accessing Africa's Renewable Energy Markets

    The Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP) hosted an event Accessing Africa’s Renewable Energy Market event in Brussels on the 4th of December.

    The event brought together European national business associations, export initiatives, business networks and Chambers of Commerce to inform about business opportunities and succes stories in Africa.

  • AEEP Dialogue Event

    Exploiting Opportunities in Renewable Energy & Rural Electrification in Kenya

    To learn more about business and engagement opportunities and the framework for renewable energy and rural electrification in Africa, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP)  has created a structured political dialogue programme between Africa and the European Union titled "Exploiting Opportunities in Renewable Energy & Rural Electrification in Kenya" took place on the 28th of November in Nairobi, Kenya.

  • Mini-Grid Policy Toolkit

    Mini-Grid Policy Toolkit published

    EUEI PDF published the Mini-grid Policy Toolkit in cooperation with Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) and REN21. The Toolkit targets policy-level decision-makers and senior technical staff in developing countries and supports them in shaping up the policy and regulatory framework for rural electrification through renewable energy or hybrid mini-grids. The Publication will be officially presented at the AEEP Energy Business Dialogue in Rome, October 13th.

    Energy Business Dialogue Rome 13.-14. October 2014

    On the occasion of the Italian Presidency of the EU and in preparation for a Ministerial Segment on Energy cooperation within the Italy-Africa Initiative, the Africa EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) organised and co-hosted, together with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a technical workshop on "How to deal with risks in the African energy sector" on the October 13th 2014 in Rome, Italy.

    Higher Education for the Renewable Energy Sector in Africa

    In order to initiate activities in the area of Higher Education, the EUEI PDF brought together more than 75 participants from more than 20 different African and several EU countries.
    With the aim to exchange experiences and analyses on higher education activities, common trends and frameworks for the renewable energy market development in Africa, participants exchanged and advised on the need for support interventions.

The EUEI PDF is a flexible instrument of the EU Energy Initiative (EUEI) supporting the creation of an enabling environment for investments in sustainable energy markets across Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Pacific through:

  • Policy, regulation and strategy development;
  • institutional building and strengthening;
  • private sector cooperation;
  • capacity development and 
  • knowledge sharing.

Furthermore, the EUEI PDF supports the strategic energy dialogue of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) as a secretariat and the implementation of the Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP).

Activity Lines

EUEI PDF and Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP) projects involve activities in the fields of energy policy and strategy development; capacity building and private sector cooperation at a national and regional level. EUEI PDF thematic studies and dialogue events foster knowledge sharing and information exchange in the energy sector.

EUEI PDF acts as the secretariat of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), a long-term framework for strategic dialogue and joint action. EUEI PDF provides the AEEP with services such as organizing regular meetings, drafting Partnership documents, and monitoring of the AEEP 2020 Political targets.
