• RECP Workshop

    Higher Education for the Renewable Energy Sector in Africa

    In order to initiate activities in the area of Higher Education, the EUEI PDF brought together more than 75 participants from more than 20 different African and several EU countries.
    With the aim to exchange experiences and analyses on higher education activities, common trends and frameworks for the renewable energy market development in Africa, participants exchanged and advised on the need for support interventions.

  • Africa EU Energy Partnership (AEEP)

    Second High Level Meeting of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership

    The Second High-Level Meeting (HLM) of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) took place from 11-13 February 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the theme “Taking the Next Step: Africa and the EU are tackling energy challenges together.” The meeting was jointly hosted by the Ethiopian Government, the Governments of Austria, Germany and Mauritius, the African Union Commission (AUC) and the European Commission.

    Thematic Study on Vocational Training concluded

    The first thematic study under the RECP’s Action Area 4, dealing with Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in support of renewable energy market development under the RECP, has been concluded.

    The findings highlight the complexity of activities where the two sectors of renewables and vocational training come together.

  • RECP Country Project

    Development of a Tariff Structure for Renewable Energy in Senegal

    Under the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP), the EUEI PDF assisted the Senegalese regulatory authority (CRSE) with developing and calculating tariff structures and building the capacity within the regulator to monitor and calculate such tariffs in the future by themselves.

    Understanding and building energy access markets

    The recently published study Understanding and building energy access markets, developed jointly by Practical Action Consulting (PAC) and EUEI PDF, aims at designing a new framework to systematically and comprehensively analyse and assess decentralised energy service markets.

EU Energy Initiative Partnership Dialogue Facility

EU Energy Initiative Partnership Dialogue Facility

The EUEI PDF is a flexible instrument of the EU Energy Initiative (EUEI) supporting the creation of an enabling environment for investments in sustainable energy markets across Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Pacific through:

  • Policy, regulation and strategy development;
  • institutional building and strengthening;
  • capacity development; and
  • knowledge sharing.

Furthermore, the EUEI PDF supports the strategic energy dialogue of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) as a secretariat and the implementation of the Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP).

Activity Lines

EUEI PDF provides support in developing successful energy policies and strategies by conducting country and regional studies with national governments and regional organisations active in the energy sector; thematic studies on energy issues; and dialogue and networking activities to foster the exchange of knowledge.

EUEI PDF acts as the secretariat of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), a long-term framework for strategic dialogue and joint action. We also implement the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP), to help make Africa a prime destination for renewable energy investments.
