Summary

Cameroon's Ministry of Water Resources and Energy (MINEE) through the Agence de Régulation du Secteur de l’Electricité (ARSEL) requested the EUEI PDF to support the formulation of a National Policy, Strategy and Action Plan for the development of Energy Efficiency (EE) in the country. The project, with the objective to contribute to improved efficiency in the use of electricity in Cameroon, is now completed.

One of EUEI PDF tasks has been to establish a dialogue between relevant public and non-state stakeholder groups in shaping up such strategies and policies. About 100 representatives from different sectors attended the event; among them were energy efficiency business practitioners, civil society, research and financial institution representatives from Cameroon.

The dialogue event facilitated a platform for the participants to jointly explore the potential of implementing energy efficiency actions on the ground and to discuss key issues as well as recommendations to political decision-makers.

The event provided participants with opportunities to:

  • learn from experiences in the energy efficiency sector both nationally and from other countries
  •  engage in discussions and take action on future shaping of EE actions in Cameroon
  • exchange and link with business and development partners, Cameroonian authorities and financial institutions.

The outcomes of the event fed into the now completed National Energy Efficiency Policy, Strategy and Action Plan.
