Study for a Regional Energy Acces Agency for ECOWAS

Following the adoption of the ECOWAS White Paper for a regional policy for 'Increasing access to energy services for populations in rural and peri-urban areas in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals', PDF has been requested to support the implementation of selected activities included in the White Paper. PDF has supported a study on the institutional design, responsibilities and potential sources of funding of the planned Regional Agency for Energy Access. The study was conducted by a team of consultants from Ghana, Benin and Germany. Furthermore, PDF is planning to support the development of national implementation strategies in selected ECOWAS member states, e.g. in Ghana.
