Dialogue for the promotion of PPP in the energy sector

Following a request from the Malian Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water, PDF has engaged the local NGO Mali Folkecenter to establish a framework for dialogue on the promotion of private investment and public-private partnerships in the energy sector. Government officials from different ministries as well as representatives from the private sector, financial institutions and civil society had the chance to exchange views on constraints to private sector investment in the Malian energy sector in regular meetings of a newly created multi-stakeholder committee and quarterly meetings of a multi-sectoral high-level steering committee. Both bodies identified barriers and opportunities for private sector investment in the energy sector and develop an action plan for the mobilisation of finance and the promotion of public-private partnerships (PPP).
