Review of Experience with Rural Energy/Electrification Agencies (REAs) in Sub-Saharan Africa

The objective of this study is to review the experience with Rural Energy/Electrification Agencies in Sub-Saharan Africa and identify success factors and lessons learned. Even though REAs are the major vehicle for government-led off-grid (and in some cases on-grid) rural electrification programmes in SSA, no systematic and independent review of the experience with the REAs has been conducted so far. For this reason, PDF has commissioned a study on the experience with REAs in Africa that will be made available on this website. It is also foreseein to organise a series of workshops in Europe and Africa to discuss the findings of the study with practitioners and decision-makers.
